#TechABreak – GDPR compliance, your biggest accelerator to AI

Apr 26, 2018

65% of Spanish companies cannot guarantee compliance with GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) begins to apply on May 25 and all companies are obliged to comply. Did you know that 65% of Spanish companies cannot guarantee compliance with this regulation? Do you consider GDPR an imposed obligation? An unattractive procedure? You are not the only one!

To clarify these questions and some other topics, last Friday, April 20, we organized our first #TechABreak together with Oliver Wyman – a special occasion to enjoy with our clients a “break” to talk about technology, innovation and other important and actual topics.

After a delightful breakfast, the speakers, Óscar Méndez (CEO at Stratio) and Paul Lewis (Principal at Oliver Wyman) introduced their talks.

Óscar focused on how GDPR compliance can become the best ally and the key to accelerate the arrival of Artificial Intelligence to a company. According to Óscar, “GDPR is a big opportunity to create new business modules. The first step? To know, identify and localize your customer data”. By integrating a data-centric model that governs and manages all data, companies can access real-time data, breaking down silos and getting the company structure ready for GDPR and AI arrival.

After this talk, Paul Lewis presented the perspectives of the upcoming GDPR and its implications for the industry: “GDPR is about trust and customers must feel they are in control”.  According to Paul, “there are a core set of technical and governance requirements that firms need to comply with”. He explained the steps required for suitanable GDPR compliance and how companies have initiated their respective plans.

Relax and #TechABreak

After all these interesting and useful talks, we relaxed with a dynamic experience: the mysterious and enjoyable escape rooms! The assistants had to enter these rooms, decrypt series, read hidden messages to find clandestine treasures… We tried to create different experiences where the assistant needed to feel the necessity of applying a plan -same than trying to implement correctly GDPR in a company!-

Our #TechABreak finished with a delicious and tempting brunch. The awards were given to the winners of the escape rooms. Take a look at the pictures!

Everyone enjoyed a fun and entertaining time together – discovering how to get the most out of GDPR, making it the direct highway to AI.

We have just started to prepared our next #TechABreak…
